Current Status of Saint Theresa
Continued Growth of the Parish - Part II

The information here is from the 2009 Church Bulletin

During the silver jubilee year of the dedication of the first mission Church of Saint Theresa, Archbishop Thomas A. Boland officiated at the dedication of the present Church building and rectory on March 18, 1967.

It was Reverend Sylvester McVeigh, our first pastor that made the dream of a school happen and construction of a church begin.

Our second pastor Reverend Edward Hennessey was committed to fulfilling the goals initiated by his predecessor, Fr McVeigh, to see the completion of the Church and Rectory buildings.

The parish community continued to flourish with ministry participation, especially in the family sports club, Theresians; and the weeklong celebration to the Kenilworth Karnival.

The successor, Reverend Andrew Jensen, also recognized the parish spirit as a blessing. His passion for music is still evident today with “The Jensen Concert Series” held annually in the Church.

Our pastor, Reverend Joe Bejgrowicz, joined our parish in 1993, and today the parish has grown to over 1800 families.

Committed to maintaining the parish visions of Rev. McVeigh, the renovations to the parish property has been ongoing. The shrines of Saint Theresa and Saint Jude were added to the Church. In addition, a pipe organ was installed, the lighting and sounds systems have been updated and the Tabernacle and Baptismal Fonts have been replaced.

Father Joe’s message of “All are welcome” has promoted stewardship. Ministries include Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Baptism, PreCana, Altar Servers, Youth Ministry, Catholic Daughter of America, Rosary Altar Society, Music Ministry, Little Flower ProLife, RCIA, Social Concerns and the Religious Education Program.

Our parish theme of “Many Parts... Many Talents... One Community!” continues to flourish with our annual fall “Block Party” to kickoff membership recruiting for the different ministries and thank the community for their continued support of our parish family.

Father Hennessey dream of “ministry participation” continued when Reverend Jose Erlito Ebron (“Lito”) was assigned to our parish as the Associate Pastor. With his young and eager enthusiasm, he successfully promoted the Youth Ministry Program with over 150 area youths joining each year. The formation of the largest parish contingency of Altar Servers in the county with over 105 servers assisting at Masses and other special services. Our recent Confirmation Class had 105 adolescents joining the church, while 110 Second Graders participating in First Communion and an additional 15 new members joined the parish through our RCIA program. Last year there were 154 Baptisms, and an additional 95 couples attending PreCana sessions held in the Fall and Winter.

As we continue our journey into the future, after these 60 years with fond memory of our parish history we look forward to the continuing “family and community” commitment at The Parish of Saint Theresa so that the Church will continue to blossom for all.
